What our badges mean — and what they don’t.

Credential verification applies only when a profile displays an explicit “License verified” or “Insurance verified” badge. Featured placement is promotional and is not credential verification or a guarantee of work quality. You should always independently verify a Contractor’s credentials before hiring.

Featured
What it means

The profile receives priority placement in selected lists or promotions.

What it doesn’t mean

Featured does not mean the Contractor's license or insurance is verified, and it is not a guarantee of work quality.

License verified
What it means

Rent a Trade reviewed the license information submitted for this Contractor and marked it verified.

What it doesn’t mean

License status, scope, and jurisdiction can change. Confirm the current record directly with the applicable licensing board before hiring.

Insurance verified
What it means

Rent a Trade reviewed the insurance information submitted for this Contractor and marked it verified.

What it doesn’t mean

Coverage and expiration can change. Request a current Certificate of Insurance and confirm it with the insurer before hiring.

Top rated
What it means

Derived from a contractor's rating across reviews on the platform (4.8 stars or higher).

What it doesn’t mean

Top rated reflects past customer feedback, not future performance. Read recent reviews and references.

Available today
What it means

The Contractor has indicated they have same-day availability. They are responsible for keeping this status accurate.

What it doesn’t mean

Same-day availability is not a binding commitment. Confirm directly with the contractor before relying on it.

Emergency service
What it means

The Contractor has indicated they accept after-hours and urgent calls (leaks, outages, lockouts, etc.).

What it doesn’t mean

An emergency response is subject to the contractor's availability and may carry premium pricing. Discuss before dispatching.

Budget friendly
What it means

The Contractor self-identifies as a budget-tier provider.

What it doesn’t mean

Pricing tier is self-reported and is not a guaranteed price. Always get a written quote.

Hire safely — every time

  • Ask for the Contractor’s license number and verify it directly with the state licensing board.
  • Request a current Certificate of Insurance (COI) — general liability and workers’ compensation where applicable.
  • Get a written estimate before any work begins.
  • Pay in milestones tied to completed work — never pay 100% upfront for projects.
  • Document the project before, during, and after.
  • Read the Customer Agreement before booking.

Reporting an issue

If you encounter a Contractor misrepresenting credentials, a job that goes wrong, or any other concern, email admin@rentatradefl.com. We review reports and may remove profiles that violate our standards. Note: Rent a Trade is a marketplace platform and is not the party to your work agreement — the agreement remains between you and the Contractor.
