Contractor Agreement

By registering as a Contractor on Rent a Trade, you acknowledge and agree that you are an independent contractor and not an employee, agent, or representative of Rent a Trade.

• You control how, when, and where work is performed.
• You provide your own tools, labor, and materials.
• Rent a Trade does not supervise, direct, or control your work.
• You are responsible for your own taxes, withholdings, and business obligations.

You agree that:

• You will comply with all applicable local, state, and federal laws governing your trade.
• You will only perform work you are legally permitted to perform.
• Where licensing is required, you are solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining valid licenses, permits, and certifications.
• You will provide accurate and current credential information on your profile.

You understand and agree:

• Rent a Trade does not provide insurance coverage of any kind.
• You are solely responsible for maintaining any insurance applicable to your trade, which may include general liability insurance and workers’ compensation coverage where required by law.

You accept full and sole responsibility for:

• The quality and completion of all work you perform.
• Safety on the job site for yourself, your crew, and the property.
• Any damages, injuries, or losses caused by you or your crew.
• Warranties, callbacks, and post-job remediation.

You agree:

• You will not represent yourself as an employee, agent, or partner of Rent a Trade.
• You may identify yourself as an independent contractor listed on the Rent a Trade marketplace.
• You will not use Rent a Trade trademarks, logos, or branding except as expressly permitted.

All disputes regarding scope, pricing, quality, payment, or any other matter related to work performed are strictly between you and the Customer. Rent a Trade is not a party to those disputes and is not responsible for resolving them. Rent a Trade may, in its discretion, remove a profile that is the subject of repeated or material disputes.

You agree to pay any applicable platform fees, subscription charges, or commissions as disclosed at the time of signup or invoicing. Fee schedules may change with advance notice. Continued use of the Platform after a fee change constitutes acceptance.

Customers may leave reviews tied to real interactions. You may respond to reviews publicly. You agree not to incentivize, pay for, or reciprocate reviews. Manipulation of reviews is grounds for account removal.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Rent a Trade, its officers, employees, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to:

• Your work or services.
• Your acts or omissions.
• Your violation of this Agreement, the Terms of Use, or applicable law.
• Your misrepresentation of credentials, licenses, or insurance.

Rent a Trade reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to suspend or remove your account at any time, with or without notice, including for violation of this Agreement, the Terms of Use, applicable law, or platform standards.

By submitting an application, signing into the contractor dashboard, or otherwise using the Platform as a Contractor, you acknowledge you have read, understood, and agreed to this Agreement. We may update this Agreement; substantive changes will require renewed acceptance.
